Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then found numerous other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials say early analysis suggest the fluid was likely human blood.
"There is still no indication as to its source; investigators are currently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the public for information.
An important official stated the incident rendered him without words and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on online, referring to the death of nine individuals by a assailant targeting people of immigrant origin in 2020.
