World Series Final Game Captures Over 50 Million Audience Members In the United States, Canadian and Japanese Regions.

The exciting extended clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run attracted a total over 50 million spectators across the US, Canada, and Japan territories. Major League Baseball reported this marks the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 contest featuring the Twins and Braves.

Television Viewership Details

Last Saturday’s memorable contest drew 27.33 million audience members on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated Fall Classic matchup after the 2017 Game 7 between the Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This represents a sixteen percent improvement compared to the previous Game 7 featuring the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed fourth, Game 4 ranked 7th, Game 5 came in 8th, and the third game landed in 13th position.

International Audience Figures

In the Canadian market, the game recorded 11.6 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English broadcast in the country after the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game started at 9 PM local time, it drew 12 million viewers. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series MVP Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – drew over 13 million spectators, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The full seven-game World Series drew 15.71M viewers on the Fox network, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the first time after 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has seen viewership growth for two consecutive seasons.

Including the Game 1 broadcast on Univision, the total American viewership reached 16.1M. The overall Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1M in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew 8.09 million viewers, an eight percent rise compared to last year and Fox’s strongest postseason ratings since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball stated that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in 16 different tongues.
